We spent most of March in California, visiting friends and two beautiful National Parks. We had not intended on going to Death Valley NP but when we heard that there was a “super bloom” happening we decided that it was an opportunity not to be missed. We spent three days in the park, we drove Badwater Road and hit all the hot spots, we particularly liked the walk in Golden Canyon. We also drove through Titus Canyon which was slow going due to the rough road but well worth it. The bloom was beautiful and very picturesque, it would be interesting to visit the park again in the future just to compare the landscape without the colours of the bloom. On our way out of the park we stopped at Zabriskie Point and Dante’s View and all I can say is WOW.
We then spent almost two weeks in Joshua Tree NP, where we stayed in three different campgrounds. We fell in love with our campsites in Ryan and White Tank with each site nestled in among the boulders and Joshua Trees, which were in bloom during our visit.
We did plenty of hiking and just walking around from our campsites to boulder outcrops, which are like playgrounds for adults. Do not miss these two National Parks! Click here to view our March 2016 Flickr album.
